K-beauty firm Amorepacific to join global RE100 initiative

Launched by the international non-profit organization, The Climate Group, in partnership with CDP, in 2014, RE100 is a global collaborative initiative among companies committed to using 100 percent renewable energy. The Seoul-based cosmetics giant joins companies such as Google, Microsoft, Apple, and over 290 others.To achieve the 100 percent renewable energy goal, Amorepacific will utilize advanced technologies to manufacture products at lower temperatures, and will also develop more low-carbon footprint products using ingredients and packaging materials with lower GHG emissions. As a global corporate citizen, we will cooperate to reduce our carbon footprint.”Amorepacific commitment to sustainability can be traced back to 1993 when it set its first sustainable management goals. The company started voluntarily tracking its GHG emissions inventory in 2008 and has made continuous investments to begin its transition to renewable energy sources. In fact, in 2020, Amorepacific sourced five percent of its electricity from renewable sources, including solar power and geothermal heat, with plans to add renewable energy generation facilities on the rooftop of its production plants and idle surfaces. Currently its global HQ building is also rated first-level in G-SEED (Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design) and energy efficiency. It is also certified as the gold grade in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
